Do we really need a car?
Tuscany is a big place and a car is recommended to explore all of
its wonderful places. Driving in Tuscany is not difficult and is not
as frantic as in the big cities. There is some public transportation
between towns and if you would like to visit Florence or Rome a bus
terminal and train terminal is conveniently close by in the neighboring
town of Chiusi.
Is there public transit in Sarteano?
Yes, Sarteano is part of a public transit bus route that cycles between
a number of the neighboring towns.
What car rental agencies are available in Sarteano?
Both Hertz and Avis have agencies very close to the train station
in the neighboring town of Chiusi and they offer shuttle service.
Is there a tourist office in town?
Yes there is and it's only a few steps from the home. Ask for Guido
who speaks English very well. The tourist office is at:
Pro Loco Sarteano
9 Corso Garibaldi
53047 Sarteano
Tel: 0578265312 0578269204
Fax: 0578265312 0578269204
E-mail: pro-loco.sarteano@libero.it
Is there wheelchair accessibility in the building?
Unfortunately the building and the apartment are not wheelchair accessible.
Can we drive right to the apartment?
Yes you can drive right to the main doors of the building and remain
there for a few moments to drop people off or to load and unload luggage.
The car can not however be left unsupervised because the street is
very narrow and needs to remain clear for passing cars.
Is there parking available for my car?
The apartment does not have a private parking spot or garage, however
plenty of parking is available in the public parking areas just a
few steps away from the building.
Is the property commercialized like a hotel?
Casa Sarteano is not an official tourist structure, such as a hotel,
rather it is a privately owned residence. As such, it does not have
standards or categories recognized internationally; rather it reflects,
in its architecture and furnishings, the local traditions and our
own personal taste. And this is precisely the kind of holiday that
visitors to Tuscany want. To enter right into the culture of the area
and live, for a few weeks, in the same surroundings as one of the
locals.
